GET OUT THE SELF RISING FLOUR AND THE BUTTERMILK NOW I KNOW SOME OF YOU LADYS ARE GOING TO SAY I CANT MAKE BISCUITS FROM SRATCH BUT YOU CAN! IT IS EASY JUST TRY IT,OK IF YOUR COOKING FOR JUST TWO PEOPLE THIS WILL MAKE YOU BIG PLENTY,OK OH YOU SAY I DONT HAVE A BISCUIT PAN BUT YOU HAVE I ROUND CAKE PAN AND IT WILL DO JUST FINE SO HERE WE GO . BASIC BISCUT RECIPE ABOUT 2 CUPS OF SELF RISEING FLOUR( with just a little extra to work with) JUST OVER 1/4 CUP OF GOOD COOKING OIL(but not much over,little bit) NOW THE GOOD STUFF 1 CUP OF BUTTER MILK (OHHH THATS GOOD)
BY THE WAY YOU NEED TO BE PRE HEATING THE OVEN AND YOU CAN USE A TOASTER OVEN IF YOU LIKE (IF THE PAN WILL FIT IN ) 400 DEG
IF YOU WANT REALLY LITE BISCUITS ADD ABOUT A TEASPOON OF BAKEING POWDER TO YOUR FLOUR MIX ALL TOGETHER ANY WAY YOU WANT TO BUT IF IT BE COMES TO DRY THEN ADD SOME MORE BUTTERMILK JUST A LITTLE AT THE TIME TO GET IT ALL MOIST BUT NOT WET AND STICKY (use your hands or a spoon it all depends if you need to clean under your nails then just use the hands and the nails get clean hehehehehehe, but a spoon will work ) NOW WHAT I DO TO SAVE A BIG MESS IS LAY DOWN A SHEET OF HEAVY DUTY TIN FOIL AS A WORK SHEAT WITH A LITTLE FLOUR SO IT DONT STICK TO THE DOUGH ADD A LITTLE FLOUR TO THE TOP OF THE DOUGH SO YOU CAN WORK IT WITH OUT IT STICKING TO YOUR HANDS. PAT IT OUT FLAT AND FOLD IT OVER ON ITS SELF 2 OR 3 TIMES TILL IT BECOMES NICE AND WORKABLE AND WELL MIXED FLATEN IT OUT TILL IT IS ABOUT THE SIZE OF YOUR PAN THEN USEING A CUTTER (oh yes you do have a biscuit cutter the can of corn you had for dinner last nite with both ends cut out smooth makes a good one. so see there you do have one ) FLOUR IT UP GOOD AND CUT THE DOUGH INTO JUST THE RITE NUMBER TO FIT INTO THE PAN (see it all works out just rite) THE LITTLE BIT OF DOUGH YOU HAVE LEFT OVER IS CAN BE ROLLED INTO SMALL LITTLE BALLS THAT FIT IN BESIDE THE BIG ONES IN THE CRACKS AND THE TOTTLERS LOVE THEM AS BABY BISCUITS PUT THESE IN THE UNGREASED CAKE PAN BAKE THEM TILL GOLDEN BROWN LIKE A NICE SUNTAN FROM DOWN HERE IN FLORIDA JAN CAUTION : DONT WORK THE DOUGH TO MUCH OR THE BISCUITS WILL BE TOUGH AND NOT LITE |
